Mary Poppins

Fancy a spoonful of sugar on a night out? Well maybe you can, because a new Mary Poppins-themed dining experience will launch in London next month. The four-course meal takes place at a venue ‘near to Cherry Tree Lane’. Hosted by HOTHOT Magazine, guests will be invited to guess the delights inside Mary’s bottomless carpet bag, try their luck as a chimney sweep and even fly a kite. ITV to show US version of Broadchurch

Some exciting news for fans eagerly awaiting the return of Broadchurch. It looks like ITV is buying the rights to the US version, Gracechurch. The series is based on the British version and even stars David Tennant (and his American accent) and Anna Gunn from Breaking Bad. Apparently it won’t be exactly the same as the British version though. The show debuts in the States in October.

Stand Up To Cancer

Gwyneth Paltrow is to produce the Stand Up To Cancer telethon on US TV for a second time. The charity fundraiser will be shown on ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, HBO, Showtime, Lifetime, ESPNews and many others on September 5. It’s expected to feature a plethora of celebs from music, TV and film.

Fashion Week

Just two months from now we’ll be finding out what designers think we’ll be wearing next pring/summer with the bi-annual fashion weeks. This week Gwen Stefani announced she’ll be back at New York Fashion Week with her clothing line L.A.M.B. No word yet on what sort of event it’ll be but it’s got me excited about what we can expect…

Glee… not so gleeful

Poor old Glee seems to be dying a painful death. First it was moved to mid-season (so it won’t be back on air in the US until after Christmas) and now it’s been announced the final season will be just 13 episodes.

Nashville Live

The first episode of season three of Nashville will feature live performances by the cast. Creator Callie Khouri says the musical component will broadcast live from the show’s set in Los Angeles. If all goes well, fans will see Hayden Panettiere and Connie Britten singing live for their supper.

Lynda Bellingham writes memoirs

Actress Lynda Bellingham is to write her memoirs. The book is expected to cover her life since her recent cancer diagnosis as well as tales of her acting and family life and her search to find the family of her birth father, having already suffered heartache in her search for her birth mother.

Tour announcement from Deacon Blue

Deacon Blue are releasing their seventh studio album in September. The album’s called A New House and it’ll be out on September 8. The band will also tour the UK later this year with dates around the country including the Royal Albert a Hall on December 15.

The BFG

Steven Spielberg’s new film based on Roald Dahl’s The BFG has had its UK release date confirmed. It’ll be out on July 22, 2016 – so a little while to wait yet. The film’s expected to be live-action rather than animated. No word yet on casting.

Gillian Flynn’s novel to become a TV series

With the film adaptation of Gone Girl due out later this year, Hollywood is now looking at author Gillian Flynn’s other work. Her novel Sharp Objects is now being turned into a TV series. The story follows a reporter who returns to her hometown to cover the murder of two young girls.

The boys are back!

The testosterone levels in London will be off the scale on August 4 with the world premiere of The Expendables 3. The film stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz and Kelsey Grammer.

Top celebs to present ESPY.

Jessica Alba, Taye Diggs, Kiefer Sutherland, Jordana Brewster and Jason Segel are among the celeb presenters at this year’s ESPY Awards in LA on Wednesday. Cameron Diaz, Jeff Bridges and  Jim Parsons will also be on hand to help celebrate the best sports moments of the year. The annual event is hosted by musician Drake.
