Jennifer Hudson and Jessie J are among the artists recording tracks for a new album based on Gary Barlow’s music for Finding Neverland. The Take That star has written the score for the stage musical which is based on the 2004 film starring Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. Alicia Keys and Taylor Swift are also rumoured to be performing on the album which doesn’t yet have a release date.
Downton Abbey Screening
Fancy attending a special preview of Downton Abbey? The first episode of series five will be shown at a special charity preview in London’s Leicester Square on September 17. Creator Julian Fellowes is expected to be joined by cast members at the event which is in aid of the Cinema And Television Benevolent Fund. Find out more at www.ctbf.co.uk
Actor David Hyde Returns To Our TV screens
The always brilliant David Hyde Pierce is returning to TV after a 10 year break. He’s joining the cast of The Good Wife for season six. Pierce will appear
as a legal pundit who becomes so disgusted by the corruption and murder rate in Chicago that he decides to run for office. Not quite sure how that will fit into the storyline of the legal drama.
Jennifer Lawrence will be back in UK cinemas on October 24. She stars alongside Bradley Cooper in Serena which is about a newly married George and Serena Pemberton who begin to build a timber empire in North Carolina during the 1920’s. But when Serena discovers George’s hidden past and faces an unchangeable fate of her own, the Pemberton’s passionate marriage begins to unravel leading toward a dramatic reckoning.
Bruce Turns Author
Bruce Springsteen is turning author with the release of what’s described as an ‘adult picture book’. It’s called Outlaw Pete and tells the story of a bank-robbing baby and is inspired by a book from the 1950s which Springsteen’s mother read to him as a child. Outlaw Pete will be released on November 4.
A New Hit Comedy
Former Ugly Betty star Michael Urie will tread the boards in London, starring in the UK premiere of Buyer and Cellar. The comedy follows an out-of-work actor working in Barbra Streisand personal basement shopping mall. The show runs at the Menier Chocolate Factory from March 11 to May 2.
Dan Brown Adapts Another Book For Film
Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard will begin filming Inferno, based on Dan Brown’s novel, in April. The pair are collaborating on their third film following Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon. This film will follow Langdon as he wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia. He teams up with Sienna Brooks, the doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories and prevent a madman from releasing a global plague connected to Dante’s Inferno.
The great and the good will be in the front row as New York Fashion Week kicks off on Thursday. Monique Lhuillier, Tommy Hilfiger, Badgley Mischka, Jenny Packham, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein are among the designers who’ll be debuting what they think we’ll be wearing for Spring 2015. The ‘fashpack’ then head across the pond for London Fashion Week which starts on September 12.
Steve Carell and Sienna Miller are bringing their new film Foxcatcher to this year’s BFI London Festival. The film, which is getting lots of Oscar buzz, will premiere on October 16 with Carell and Miller joining director Bennett Miller on the red carpet. The full line-up for this year’s festival is announced on Wednesday.
One of the film’s I’m hoping will be at LFF is Robert Downey Jr’s latest, The Judge. The film, which also stars Robert Duvall, is about lawyer Hank Palmer, who returns to his childhood home where his estranged father, the town’s judge, is suspected of murder. Hank sets out to discover the truth and along the way reconnects with the family he walked away from years before. The film is released on October 17.
One for the kids in this week’s trailer round-up, the first teaser for Shaun The Sheep. The small screen star is heading to the big screen with the release of his first film on February 6. When Shaun decides to take the day off and have some fun, he gets a little more action than he bargained for! Shaun’s mischief inadvertently leads to The Farmer being taken away from the farm, to the Big City. Here’s the trailer:
