Katie, Lindsay and Liz eyeing TV roles

Katie Holmes

Showbiz update: Jenny Priestley delivers a fresh batch of celebrity news, including the actresses who we might just be seeing on our television screens sometime soon.

Will Katie Holmes be returning to TV?

Katie Holmes is in talks about returning to TV in a new drama series, which will also star British actor Rufus Sewell.

The currently untitled show will be about two powerful socialites living in New York. Holmes and Sewell will play husband and wife and their marriage will be targeted by another powerful couple who want to destroy it.

The pilot is being directed by Taylor Hackford, Helen Mirren’s husband.

Elizabeth Hurley is to become the queen of E!

Elizabeth Hurley’s new drama, The Royals, has been given a series order by E!, making it the channel’s first ever scripted series.

As the title suggests, the show revolves around a fictional British royal family with Hurley playing the matriarch, Queen Helena. Vincent Regan and William Moseley, who you may recognise from the Narnia movies, will co-star.

The Royals is scheduled to air in 2015.

Felicity Huffman joins 12 Years a Slave writer’s TV drama

Former Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman is moving on from Wisteria Lane and starring in a new drama from John Ridley, the writer of 12 Years a Slave. The show is called American Crime and follows a legal team whose lives are turned upside down by a racially charged trial.

Isiah Washington is headed back to Grey’s Anatomy

Not sure I ever expected to write this! Seven years after his contract wasn’t renewed following remarks he made about one of his co-stars, Isiah Washington will be returning to Grey’s Anatomy.

Washington will appear for one episode only after Sandra Oh, who played his on-screen love interest Cristina Yang, leaves in May.

Lindsay’s attempting a comeback

Yet another comeback (or attempted comeback), Lindsay Lohan is to make a guest appearance on comedy series 2 Broke Girls. She’ll be playing a bride-to-be who hires the girls to make her wedding cake.

This guest star role is to help promote her new docuseries, Lindsay, which is being shown on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) in the US.
