Spring to Summer Skin Care

Summer’s here and so it’s the time of year to change the skincare regime… again.

Inner cities are naturally hotter than the outskirts and suburbs, and due to car fumes etc, it would be a sin to not remove you make up at night.  Make up aside – because men need to look after their skin as well – I’m taking a look at serum’s this week as opposed to moisturisers which can be quite heavy in the warm weather.

What is a serum and why use it?

The lesser known relative of the moisturizer, the serum, nourishes skin with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Different than moisturiser, it doesn’t add unwanted oil to your skin. Serum has smaller molecules than moisturisers, allowing it to penetrate the deepest layers of your skin for an adding much needed hydration. This also makes it possible to deliver those wonderful nutrients to the deepest layers of your skin, where moisturisers aren’t able to perform.

I swear by No. 7…

Boots No. 7 Protect and Perfect Serum

Supercharge your skincare regimen with No7’s Independently tested and clinically proven* Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced serum. This serum is powered by Matrixyl 3000 Plus, a combination of the most powerful form of Matrixyl plus a next generation peptide that works together to help restore more youthful skin. Also formulated with No7’s patented antioxidant complex, which helps protect skin from future signs of aging, keeping it looking younger for longer. After 2 weeks, skin looks younger; by 4 weeks, deep lines and wrinkles are visibly reduced. Results keep getting better with continued use. 80% of women said this serum provided the best anti-aging results they had ever seen.

The white serum leaves a dewiness on the skin; it has no discernible scent.

This wrinkle fighter has become a cult favorite and there are actually studies that back up its claims (including one published in the British Journal of Dermatology). And while you’re waiting for the anti-aging benefits to kick in, there are pretty good instant effects, too: It temporarily plumps lines and leaves a pretty sheen on the skin.

Does a serum suffice? What serums do you prefer?  And to my male readers, how is your skin care regime changing now that the weather has got warmer? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments below or on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
