What a busy showbiz week this is going to be! Not only is it London Fashion Week but it’s Oscars week too. So lots to tell you about, let’s dive straight in with the latest Entertainment New from Jenny Priestley.

The fashion spotlight falls on London from Friday as designers show what they think we’ll all be wearing this autumn/winter. If London generates half the articles Kanye West’s show did in New York then it’ll be doing well (ps, who takes a toddler to a fashion show?). Anyway, highlights at LFW include Julien Macdonald, Mulberry, Vivienne Westwood and Burberry. Expect to see plenty of shots of the celebs in the front row.

Alfre Woodard

The FROW’s (Fashion Front Row) will be minus some of the big film stars this year though, they’ll be in LA for Sunday’s Academy Awards. In fact designer Tom Ford has moved his show from London to LA in order to attract the stars on Friday. The Oscar-week parties begin in earnest on Wednesday when actress Alfre Woodard hosts her annual pre-Oscar dinner. She’ll be toasting the accomplishments of black women in entertainment, honouring Ava DuVernay and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. The guest list also includes Angela Bassett, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Octavia Spencer, Rashida Jones, Viola Davis and Zoe Saldana. On Saturday the big ticket is the Independent Spirit Awards which are held on the beach in Santa Monica. Presenters include Oprah Winfrey, Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore, Jared Leto and Kerry Washington. Of course there are plenty of parties after the show itself, most stars head to the Governers’ Ball before hitting the red carpet at either the Vanity Fair or Elton John events (or both). This year Elton’s got Nile Rogers and Chic performing. And if they still want to party, then the stars can head to Madonna’s ultra exclusive event that continues late into the night.

In terms of the Academy Awards themselves, it looks like every Hollywood star will be there – producers have named over 35 presenters so far including Gwyneth Paltrow, Idris Elba, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Shirley MacLaine, Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Murphy and John Travolta. The show will also feature some special musical performances with Anna Kendrick, Jennifer Hudson and Lady Gaga all due to take to the stage.

If the parties and the celebs aren’t enough to make you jealous, this year’s nominees gift bag includes over $125,000 (£80,000) worth of freebies! They include a $20,000 gift certificate to have a one-on-one meeting with an expert on mind control techniques. If not that’s your thing, how about a luxury train ride through the Canadian Rockies, a ‘glamping trip’, a gift certificate for a custom sweet and desert buffet and a lifestyle makeover package. It’s enough to make you feel sick…

Away from the Oscars excess, here’s some news:

Christina Aguilera is joining the cast of Nashville. She’s joining the show for a ‘multi-episode arc’ as Jade St John, a pop singer who wants to record a country album but her record label won’t allow it. We’ve seen Aguilera act a little, particularly in the film Burlesque. It didn’t get the best reviews…

Could Will Smith return to his musical roots? It’s been 10 years since he last released an album but Will has continued making music privately. Now he says he’s “got the bug” again and he might just “see if I got one more in me”.

Beyoncé is writing the forward to a new book about the benefits of a plant-based diet. The 22-Day Revolution is founded on the belief that it takes 21 days to break a habit. It contains advice, recipes and tools, including a detailed 22-day meal plan, for switching to a plant-based lifestyle. The book will be released in April.

Rob Lowe looks set to stretch his comedy acting chops in a new pilot for US TV. He’s signed on to star in ‘The Grinder’ for Fox. The show is about a TV lawyer who loses his show and decides to completely change his life by moving back to his hometown and taking over the family law firm.

Another clip from ‘The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ for you this week. This one’s called Unexpected Visitors:
The film’s released on February 26.
