Morning peeps, it’s been a hectic few weeks, (video recordings, theatre trips etc) and last week ended with Helen Lederer‘s book launch. Been watching Helen on and off for years on the TV and at comedy gigs, even interviewed her in the very early years of my Radio career. My confidence kicked back in BIG TIME when she asked me to Chair one of the categories of her CWIP Awards, so attending her book launch was a given. The room was packed, and very very hot (yes I’m glowing) and the love in the room for Helen spoke for itself. The book “Not That I’m Bitter” reveals the ups, downs, and frank experiences of being a woman in the comedy and entertainment business and all that comes with it. The end product we see on screen or on stage may come with smiles but there are darker moments that needed to be fought. I’m still reading this but from what I’ve read so far I would recommend this. You’ll probably recognise a piece of yourself in one or two of the pages🤷🏽‍♀️ One thing I picked up very early in this book ….laughter is a great tonic. Thanks Helen, you’re a Super Woman. Ax ❤️📚

Good evening peeps, took me a while to get my head around this and the words of Frank Hester…… which I won’t repeat. I want to say I don’t believe it but it happened. I want to believe that the world is changing and things are getting better in the racism arena and then …… comments of this nature rear their head. Hearing this man’s words on the news every hour at work today has confirmed just how much things haven’t changed and it’s tiring!! So tiring. I’m speechless. I’m done. Ax

Morning peeps, this season of Sister Act is gonna be hot🔥🔥🔥🔥It’s going to be an awesome production, with uplifting, powerful gospel singing from Beverly Knight, who also brings the comedy as well alongside Ruth Jones. Lieutenant Eddie Souther will be played once again by #CliveRowe and Curtis Jackson (the baddie) is being played by Lemar …. How are we gonna see past that sweet smile of his???? Yes peeps, good morning and a happy Thursday. MJ The Musical launched in London’s West End last night. I can see why this production has won a number of Tony Awards. It’s not a juke box (trust me), it touches on so many areas …. Michael’s life, childhood, his charity passion, The Dangerous Tour etc., and there was no shortage of MJ hits. I think this will be in the West End for a while. I’ll be giving tickets away on Smooth next week. Ax

Yes Peeps, it’s out. This film is about a specific era in Bob‘s life where he was very clear that whilst he was not a political animal, he got caught up in politics which led to him leaving Jamaica and coming to England and he advised Rita and the children to go to America. The Exodus album and One Love concert feature heavily in the film. Do check it out. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Kingsley Ben-Adir plays a brilliant Bob, Lashana Lynch is Rita Marley and James Norton is Chris Blackwell. Ax #OneLoveMovie

Hey peeps, I was on the Capital FM and Capital Xtra floor earlier taking a few videos on the phone with some work colleagues to celebrate World Radio Day. Grabbed a coffee and went back to the Smooth studio and whilst editing the clips together the news about Steve Wright broke. A broadcasting legend and an icon who’s voice was on the airwaves for 40years. One of the faces of Top Of The Pops (remember that show??). A sad day for radio, a sad day for his loved ones. Let’s remember the laughs and the fun he created on the airwaves. Ax #ripstevewright #worldradioday
