#GoSoberForOctober2019

October is such a health conscious month, with Breast Cancer Awareness, StopTober and Go Sober For October.  Smoking is becoming such an antisocial habit, you can’t smoke on tubes, trains or buses and many social venues don’t allow smoking either.  Vaping, however, is definitely on the up.

Go Sober For October is an interesting one, save the finances you would have spent on alcohol and donate to MacMillan CancerCare!

Be a Soberhero and go 31 days without alcohol this October – say no to the booze and yes to raising money for people living with cancer.

And just like every hero’s trusty sidekick, Macmillan will be with you every step of the way to help you along your sober journey.

By signing up to the challenge you’re doing something amazing for people with cancer. All the money raised by those Going Sober this October will help Macmillan support even more people facing cancer.

If you’ve decided to take up Macmillan’s sober challenge you might be surprised how quickly you start to notice some of the benefits of cutting out alcohol, which can include…

More energy

Alcohol can mess with your sleep pattern meaning you spend less time in more restful deep sleep.

After a few days of not drinking, you’ll feel like you can take on the world, making this October the perfect opportunity to kick-start a new fitness regime. And if getting in shape is your goal you might be pleased to have already started to notice some definite changes from not drinking.

Weight loss

Due to their high sugar content many alcoholic drinks are pretty calorific, and regularly adding lots of extra calories on top of your recommended daily intake can make it difficult to lose weight.

Increased productivity

I have to say the thing I like best about not drinking is waking up fresh and feeling great on the weekend.

Saving money

Cutting out expensive rounds at the bar or bottles of wine on your weekly shop could quickly have a positive effect on your bank balance, giving you a bit of extra cash to try a new activity, join the gym or update your Autumn wardrobe.

Improved health and mood

A surprising thing that happened after around one month of no drinking was that I found myself with this amazing mental clarity. I now feel more focused and clear about everything. Now I feel healthier, my liver is working better and my whole system is thriving.

Check out my new refreshing tipple… don’t laugh, I cannot believe that rose wine, pink champagne, or Prosecco hasn’t been on my shopping list for ages.

Are you going “Sober in October”? Have you ever stopped drinking for a period of time? What were your personal benefits from it? I’d love to hear about your experiences on Facebook,Twitter, and Instagram!
