J’aime Paris
So Thursday I headed off to Paris with my Magic colleagues to attend the Premiere of the JK Rowling film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. It was a FABULOUS day as we all presented our shows live from a boat on the Seine in the city of Love.
Travelling on EuroStar to Paris is a breeze and takes the same time as it does to travel from London to Manchester! Once we checked in to our hotel it was straight up the Eiffel Tower with some of my Magic cohorts and it was surreal – you know when you’ve seen an iconic image or building on TV and then you’re in front of that image? It takes your breath away. The first stop on the elevator is the restaurant, the second stop is the gift shop and the final stop is the top of the Tower and as I looked down my heart started palpitating, you just don’t realise how high up you are. A quick bite to eat then it was straight to The River Seine to present my show with full view of the Tower.
Later that evening a number of us head off to the Premiere of The Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Now…. this was very different to London premieres that I have attended, it was more of a public affair with multiple screenings in one complex. The cast are filmed during their red carpet interviews which are streamed into each cinema in the complex. So you could watch the interviews regardless of which screening room you were in. The red carpet presence is minimal.
JK Rowling has one vivid imagination, there were times I honestly couldn’t comprehend the magnificence, imagery and technology displayed in the film. Think pre Harry Potter 1927 in Paris with a very young Dumbedore played by Jude Law who looks as though he was born for the part, and the wicked Grindelwald played by Johnny Depp
It was DEFINITELY a whirlwind of a day and night and I loved every single minute! Are you planning on seeing The Crimes Of Grindelwald? Been to Paris lately? I’d love to hear all about it… let’s talk about this on Facebook,Twitter, and Instagram!
