Angie’s Book of the Month: Grown Ups by Marian Keyes

First up on my Summer Reading List… Grown Ups by the lovely Marian Keyes.

I’ve known Marian for years. She is funny, charming, and wonderful… just like her books. Her humour and in depth look into relationships makes for captivating reading, and her book Grown Ups is no exception. Imagine my delight when I was asked to be on Sky TV for the 15th of July, chatting with Marian about her book, as well as Natasha Brown author of Assembly for the Sky Arts Book Club.

Grown Ups

They’re a glamorous family, the Caseys.

Johnny Casey, his two brothers, Ed and Liam, their beautiful, talented wives and all their kids spend a lot of time together – birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, weekends away. And they’re a happy family. Johnny’s wife, Jessie – who has the most money – insists on it.

Under the surface, though, conditions are murkier. While some people clash, other people like each other far too much…

Everything stays under control until Ed’s wife, Cara, gets concussion and can’t keep her thoughts to herself. One careless remark at Johnny’s birthday party, with the entire family present, starts Cara spilling out all their secrets.

In the subsequent unravelling, every one of the adults finds themselves wondering if it’s time – finally – to grow up?

Would love for you to read Grown Ups along with me and discuss this month in my Angie’s Book Club Facebook Group. ABC is a closed group where we read our selected book together, discuss the books we love and get real. You’ll also be the first to know about upcoming events and perhaps get to chat with an author or two. Hope to see you there!
