I’m featuring some literary material on raising children this month, and I am focusing on boys first.
Motivational speaker Errol Lawson, has penned his experience growing up in a single home in his book, From The Post Code To The Globe. The book details some of the emotional issues that young boys are fighting against. Peer pressure, being negatively labelled, and not seeing a way forward for the future, is the foundation that young boys are unconsciously building for themselves and then striking out and attacking when they see other boys breaking free. It’s a vicious cycle.
So how do you change this pattern? Errol says we need to change the way we communicate with boys in order to set a new foundation, that will in turn change their behaviour, and eventually, the outcome they experience.
