Why it’s SO important for ALL of us to support Black Lives Matter

I’ve always tried to keep things as positive and as upbeat as possible, but I think that even Stevie Wonder can see that there is an issue in America with the killing of innocent black men.

Stevie Wonder talked to all of us at Hyde Park yesterday about why it’s so important to support the Black Lives Matter campaign.

The singer took the opportunity to talk to the crowd about the movement, which campaigns against violence toward black people. Stevie said:

‘All lives matter but the reason I say black lives matter is because we are the original people – in essence we’ve all got a bit of black in us. We’ve all got a bit of soul in us.’

Black Lives Matter

#BlackLivesMatter has been trending on the internet for the last week, and what I find so hard to take in are the films on Facebook and Twitter that openly display the taking of lives, of black men who have not caused a threat but whose lives have been cut short by police.

`
In all instances it has been proven that the black men have not been armed and have not been a threat to anyone! So why were their lives taken?

I have family members and friends across the States inclusive of Dallas, Indianapolis, etc and I can’t explain how many times my heart has come to a standstill – it could be one of my baby cousins, or a family member who was caught in the cross fire.

Let me state quite clearly, killing someone is not the answer to gain clarity for racial tension, and the shootings of young unarmed black men must have caused some unrest amongst African Americans, but my questions is ; when will it stop? Taking lives won’t reach a positive outcome for any situation, and ‘an eye for an eye will only result in a world that it blind’.

Let’s stop the racial hatred, let’s stop the crime.
