Colour Wonderful!

It’s working its way back to Winter time again, which always translates into freaking out about your future winter weight gain the thought of holiday parties and work wear.

And whilst I ADORE my blacks and neutrals…

The festive season gives me a chance to back away from the basic black and embrace the earth tones, neon, pastels, and sparkles!

While we all have our favourite colours, perhaps we should take the time to analyze how those colours can affect us. Colours can convey our moods, our personalities, or how we want others to view us. There’s a lot more to your colour choice than you might think!

After interviewing Theresa Fowler about her book ‘Feel Like Sh*t’ we got talking about wearing black and how it can be an easy option especially when you’re not feeling body confident or when the weather grows colder.

Bright colours really are mood lifters, and if you’re not feeling too good about yourself whatever the reason wearing black can leave you feeling invisible. So my personal mission to reduce the black clothing continues! #WearLessBlack

We all have color associations that can directly affect our mood.

  • Red, for example, is instantly associated with danger or passion, because fire is red and blood is red, and our hearts actually beat faster when we see the color red.
  • Black, of course, is associated with the night and with funerals, so it subdues our mood and makes us less active.
  • Blue calls to mind feelings of calmness or serenity. It is often described as peaceful, tranquil, secure, and orderly.
  • Green also represents tranquility, good luck, health, and jealousy.
  • Purple (my favourite colour) represents sensuality, royalty, conveys wisdom, is soothing and mysterious.
  • Pink is calming, feminine, and associated with love and romance.
  • Orange calls to mind feelings of excitement, enthusiasm, and warmth.

Clothing Autumn/Fall 2019 Colour Trends:

Bold colours are in style for fall winter 2019/20. You will see plenty of Mattel Pink, and Tiger Orange everywhere for sure.

I’m also thinking of sticking with last year’s personal trend of #WinterWhites…

There are so many gorgeous new beauty trends to try on your eyes, lips, and cheeks this autumn!

Colour isn’t just about the clothes. Some studies suggest that wearing red lipstick can improve the wearer’s confidence. It makes sense that bravely rocking a colour as bold as red can make you feel bold, but you don’t have to paint your face to reap the benefits of rocking a red lip. Sporting any bold color—in any way—could have the same effect.

I LOVE what Joan Collins said about how women are afraid of lipstick. I just can’t do without my go-to red lipsticks from MAC.  MAC Ruby Woo in the evenings or Mac Rebel in the day. This is the perfect time of year to feel glamorous and the right Christmas red can make your outfit.

Ditch your basic black liner for a sleek swipe of colour to brighten eyes. Yes… one of the biggest trends of the Summer was coloured liner, it’s sticking around as one of Fall/Winter’s biggest makeup trend.  Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner comes in pretty much every color of the rainbow and then some.

So when you’re contemplating the latest trends for the upcoming wintry season – make a conscious decision to incorporate more colour in your clothes and in your life! I’d love to hear more about your personal colour choices on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
